Executive Board Meeting June 30, 2020

Our Retirees Chapter Executive Board meeting was held on Tuesday, June 6th. This was the first meeting since February because of the Covid 19 pandemic.

With most of the province moving to stage two of the reopening we were allowed to have a meeting with ten of the twelve board members able to attend.

Because of the virus some of our regular activities had to be cancelled. The Executive Board and Membership meetings were the first to go. We are still not able to have regular membership meetings.

The annual meeting of The Ontario Retirees Chapters held in St. Thomas in May was cancelled as well as the National Retirees policy conference held in September in Port Elgin.

All Medication Awareness Programs also cancelled until further notice.

Our annual golf tournament held in August has been cancelled.

A decision will be made concerning the Annual Christmas dinner. We will wait to decide but it does not look promising.

The Executive Board Elections that were to be held in May have been postponed. The Executive Board have decided to hold off the elections until all of the membership can take part.

The Board put together a list of items for the local unions Negotiating Committee. The Glencore contract is due February 1, 2021.

We have purchased the Sudbury Wolves tickets and hopefully we will be able to use them in the fall.

The retiree’s buildings deck needs staining and will be done by members of the executive.

The Executive will hold a summer board meeting on July 28th.

We will be sending out a newsletter this fall with further updates on cancellations or openings.

The Executive Board wish all the best to all retirees and their families in these troubled times. Keep safe, social distance and wear a mask.
